List of companies I predict will be at Techcrunch50 - Updated

by Wayne Yeager on September 6, 2008

Since late Spring, one of my hobbies has been to try and figure out which new startups will be launching at Demo and Techcrunch50 this year.

I’ve been looking for hints dropped on Twitter or other clues on startup’s blogs like “We’ll be in San Francisco in early September”, and so forth. I’ve got Google Alerts set up for “demo pit” and “just gave a demo” and many more. I’ve been watching the online activities of Jason Calacanis, Mike Arrington (Hosts of TC50), Chris Shipley (host of Demo) as well as the tweets and blogs of associated founders, guests, experts, investors, interns, employees, etc.

So yesterday when Demo announced their list of 72 startups, I was pleasantly surprised that I had accurately guessed several of them.  That is to say, I had predicted that they would be launching at one conference or another.

Obviously, this isn’t rocket science - or science of any kind - but armed with my newfound confidence in predicting such things, and since I haven’t seen anyone else’s compiled list of known or prospective attendees, here is the pool of startups that I think may be among those making an appearance at Techcrunch50…  either on the main stage or in the Demo Pit, and what (I think) they’re about:

Some of these startups migt be in the demopit but there arent many here that I can imagine being a main presenter.

This is a great list even if they aren’t in a conference here or there. Good work.

Thanks! It’s amazing what you can do when you’re obsessed!

Well spotted on many of these - we were in the TC demo pit (3scale.net), as were almost all of the others - amazing that only two leaked (Blah and GoodRec). In the demopit there was less incentive to be totally hush hush, so I guess this was pretty normal.

Loads of cool stuff on the main stage + in the demo pit - whatever gets said about the events, its impressive to see so much stuff go public at the same time! If anybody wants beta access to 3scale (we do API management, monitoring and payments) head over to http://www.3scale.net!
